1. Software engineer : Networking (Layer 2, Layer 3 Developers and testers)

The job involves working on a brand new stand-alone data center switch.
Opportunity Snapshot:
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in a brand new switch project as part of the software engineering team of Insieme BU, Bangalore. Become a key part of Cisco’s Data Center strategy.
We are looking for candidates who strive in a fast paced start-up like environment. You will be part of

the foundations of the team.
Responsibilities:
- Participate on a project team of engineers involved in the development of software for Nexus 3K/Nexus 9K product family, with emphasis in Layer-2 and Layer-3 protocol/forwarding infrastructure.
- Design and develop system software for the next generation Data center networking product
- Comprehend newer, complex data-center customer requirements and translating to engineering features
- Write complete functional and design specifications for those features independently
- Lead development of subsystems
- Develop large portions of software independently and rapidly with quality
- Integrate and troubleshoot component level as well as system level issues for successful completion of product and software releases with aggressive timelines.
Required Skills:
• Comprehensive working experience in networking technologies at Layer-2 (e.g.: IEEE 802.3 Ethernet switching, 802.1D bridging, 802.1Q VLAN and protocols like LACP,STP,IGMP etc) and Layer-3 (e.g.: forwarding and routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, PIM, MSDP etc)
• Experience in design and development of networking software features at platform dependent layer, dealing with specialized ASICs, network processors for high-performance packet forwarding systems, developing drivers and other platform dependent code
• Proficiency in programming in C/C++, development of algorithm using efficient data structures to come up with optimized code, debugging and troubleshooting under Linux environment.
• Must be a self-starter, team player, must have the hunger to venture into unknown areas and code and make the system work, must be able to work cohesively within the team and across geographically spread teams to accomplish results
• Requires MSEE/CS or BSEE/CS with 6-10 years of experience

2. Senior Individual contributors - Protocol developers

Summary of the job:
Selected candidate will be part of a team of engineers involved in development of software for multi-protocol datacenter switch.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and develop switch software starting from requirement gathering, functional specs, design specs, coding and unit testing.
Would be required to interact with cross-functional teams.
Typically requires a BSEE/CS with 17-22 years experience
Skills Required:
- Should have lead a team of engineers
- Should have designed complex systems
- Strong skills in programming and debugging complex systems.
- Good understanding of OS fundamentals
- Sound understanding of IP networking technologies & protocols
- Good understanding in FC protocols will be a plus
